The Revenge of the Nerds : Part 2
Big companies are always a big factor when creating something new , usually it is because they have something that small companies doesn't. A big amount of money they can invest on new products and sell them with a lower prices than their smaller competitors. So is easy to see why is hard to compete against these big companies. Yet i believe there is something happening in the computer world that is helping companies be able to compete against these titans. The development of new products of software and hardware is extremely fast. This is the case with IBM and Microsoft during the big boom of personal computers. IBM had such heavy process to create a new product that will be impossible to compete with Apple in such short time. Yet they were able to do it by just skipping these procedures and finding parts that were easy to assemble in a short amount of time. A big alliance was formed and yet again it was based on how fast Microsoft was able to create an operating system. That is how Apple , Microsoft and several manufacturers of personal computers took out IBM from the personal computer market. Now we think it was just a moment of luck but we can see it in our times on how fast some products are evolving and creating new markets. Companies that at that time didn't make an impact in technology and now they are one of the biggest companies in the world. Google , Amazon, Uber, Samsung, PayPal and i am sure there are companies out there we don't know about but will make a huge impact in the world. Everything relaying on certain people who see the world with a vision and want to change it. Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs these people have a different vision but each vision had a contribution to our society. Apple thinking each person should have a personal computer, Microsoft thinking that each computer should run Microsoft software and Amazon thinking everything should be able to buy what they need from the Internet. We can keep analyzing each influential person and its company and we will find new stuff. Yet my point is quite basic. That it requires a vision so we are able to change the world especially with how fast things are developed .
